International Environmental Policy

This seminar is an introduction to the science, economics, and politics of international environmental policy. Ten international environmental issues will be covered in some depth. The interested student will not need any prerequisites to participate in the course. Course materials will be self-contained and drawn from material the instructor has used in briefing international negotiators and the U. S. Congress.

Meet the Instructor(s)

John Weyant

John Weyant is a professor of management science and engineering, director of the Energy Modeling Forum (EMF), and a fellow at the Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford. He is active in debates on energy and environmental policy through the Department of State, the Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency. In California, he has been a member of the California Air Resources Board's Economic and Technology Advancement Advisory Committee (ETAAC). Professor Weyant was awarded the United States Association for Energy Economics' 2008 Adelmann-Frankel Award for unique and innovative contributions to the field of energy economics. He was honored in 2007 as a major contributor to the Nobel Peace Prize.
